M.O. @ the Moses Mabhida Stadium 2010

It was another exciting week for Memorable Occassions, as the company was chosen to do an event at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

It was our first event there, but we are in the process of planning several more events in this beautiful, modern space.

I want to thank my staff - Hugo Correa & Sihle Gumede who done such a magnificent job on the deco.

Enjoy the photo's

Compliments Of The Season from M.O.

It's hard to believe that 2010 is here. 2009 was an amazing year...both professionally and personally. We designed and coordinated over 70 memorable events. and received so much great feedback for them.

On a personal level, we had much success as well! 2009 was the year of baby girls !!! My wife and I had our third child, Cara Daniels, on November 20th. Our cousin, Kershia Dutlow and her soon to be, Darren Bell also welcomed a wonderful daughter and one of my oldest friends, Marcel & Bianca Green had, you guessed it! a baby girl, as well. Needless to say, it has been both a challenging and rewarding year for all of us. I can't help but reflect on the past year and get excited for what lies ahead!

So you might be thinking..."What else could Memorable Occassions have planned for 2010?"...To answer your question..."A LOT!!!!" We have exciting plans for the this year. While I cannot divulge too many juicy details right now, I will keep u posted via my blog:
http://memorableoccassions.blogspot.com/

Most importantly: We will continue to design and coordinate events while putting our clients first! I started this company because there seemed to be a void. Everyone was planning, but no one was caring. I still believe customer service is key and a happy client is always the goal!

As 2009 has come to a close I cannot help but count my blessings. I'm thankful and grateful for so many things. My beautiful and healthy children. An amazing wife. Wonderful friends and clients. Loving family. A successful business. What can I say? I'm truly blessed.

I want to wish everyone (our amazing clients who allow us to be creative, professional vendors who never let us down, talented planners and industry professionals that inspire us, supportive family and friends, and of course, my dedicated staff) a joyous and healthy new year. May 2010 bring you everything you hope for!!!!

Love and Prosperity, and not forgetting Happiness, (as my Uncle Eugene Correa reminded Me)..

Why Does Drapery Cost Alot?

Function drapings

Drapings is really a big job - the bigger the job, the bigger the impact! They are best used to completely alter the effect the venue provides. You can lighten dark venues, or darken light venues. You can use them to reinforce the corporate's brand colours. You can use them to even create sub-venues and even an indoor "tent" effect.

Drapings are very large pieces of material. They need to be washed frequently. It requires a lot of work and people to get them correctly pinned to size, pinned up and in place at a venue. It takes a real specialist combining both practical and creative skills as well as experience (general, and in the intended venue) to do a really good job and create the special patterns for the effects you seek. Prices therefore vary considerably depending on the venue, the venue's size and the effect desired.

First Things First

Just engaged? Congratulations! To help you start planning we're sharing our easy and short list for what to do first...

Start Spreading the News

Y0u may want to let people in on your engagement as soon as the ring is slipped on your finger. Or you might want to keep the moment private a bit longer. However you share the information, even if you veer from tradition, you should tell your parents first, then other family and friends. You'll make phone calls, of course, but you can also send email or a letter or use a service like Facebook to send an announcement. You could even throw a party.

Think About the Big Picture

Envision the type of wedding you both want -- maybe it's the event of childhood dreams or one that reflects your grown-up tastes. Even if you are set on a formal event in a ballroom, considering other possibilities, such as a seaside or garden ceremony’s or a Sunday brunch, may change your mind or reinforce your choice. The same holds true for selecting the time of day and mood of the wedding

Set a Budget

Prior to making any decisions about the style, location, etc., figure out what you have to spend and whether your families will contribute. Make sure you and your soon to be are in agreement about your priorities before talking to your parents about budget and logistics.

Register for Gifts

Surprising as it may seem, as soon as people find out about your impending nuptials, presents will start flowing in. It's never too early to register, not only to help ensure you get something you like and need, but also to make it easier on friends and family who are pondering what to purchase. Even if you don't select everything right away, at least go to one store and decide on some things for your list. You can always add more later and register at other stores. Try to limit your registry to three places. This way, it'll be easier to manage. And, in case you don't get everything you put down, many stores will keep your registry active for as long as a few years.

Insure Your Ring

You may never want to take off your priceless new treasure, but realistically, you'll have to at times. It's a good idea to talk to an insurance agent about coverage in case the stones or the ring itself ever need to be repaired or replaced.

You will first need an appraisal by a certified independent gemologist; most jewelers will provide this service upon purchase. And make sure you understand all the terms of the policy. Find out whether you are covered if the ring is lost, stolen, or damaged, and what stipulations there are, if any. If the ring is damaged, does the company give you a check so you can have it repaired by the jeweler of your choice, or do you have to use one of their jewelers? You'll also want to know how long the claims process takes.
